Red Coral Sterling Silver Stacking Cuff Bracelet

A red coral cuff bracelet in sterling silver, set with a full row of oval coral cabochons in hand cut bezels with silver drops between each stone. Southwestern row work, made by hand.

THE PIECE
The stones are oval coral cabochons in a deep salmon red, polished smooth and domed, each one seated in a plain silver bezel that lets the color carry. Between the settings, small silver drops are applied at the shoulders, catching light where the band curves and giving the row its rhythm. The shank is smooth and tapered, polished bright, with a clean bezel line running the length of it.
The restraint is the point. Stone, bezel, and the drops, each one doing exactly what it should.

TRADITION
Row bracelets are one of the oldest and most confident forms in Southwestern silver. A line of stones, each one bezeled individually, each one seated true, spaced so the eye travels the whole band in a single sweep. This one carries that precision the whole way across, and it reads clean from across a room. Coral came into Southwestern jewelry through trade routes that ran from the Mediterranean to Spain to the Americas, and silversmiths took to it immediately. Against sterling it does something turquoise cannot. It warms.

SIZING AND FIT
This is an open cuff, not a closed bangle. The gap slides over the narrow side of the wrist. It can be adjusted slightly by gentle pressure with both hands through a soft cloth. WHO WEARS THIS
Someone who wants color that is not turquoise. It works alone as a clean everyday cuff and it stacks beautifully with plain silver bands, twisted rope cuffs, or a second coral piece. Reads right with denim, with white linen in July, with a wool coat in February.

CARE
Wipe the silver with a soft dry cloth. Keep polishing dips away from the coral, which is porous and takes on what you put on it. Remove before swimming, lotion, and perfume. Store flat and out of direct sun.
